Location: Patagonia Soho – 101 Wooster Street, Manhattan.
New York Outrigger is pleased to present the screening of The Rider and the Storm, the Liberty Challenge Film at Patagonia Soho as part of the 2013 Hawaiian Airlines Liberty Challenge. Many in our New York Outrigger family were directly affected by Superstorm Sandy and this film reflects many of the struggles of those who surround us over the past several months.
Timmy Brennan is a New York iron worker who escapes the grind of the city through his true passion, surfing. But when Superstorm Sandy destroys his home in Breezy Point, Timmy loses everything — including his board. As Timmy digs through the ruins of his home day after day, trying to recover lost possessions, he discovers the kindness of strangers and finds solace once again on the ocean.
“The Rider And The Storm” is the latest documentary film from RYOT Co-founders David Darg and Bryn Mooser. ”Rider” is Darg and Mooser’s third film as co-directors and follows their award-winning films produced in Haiti: ”Baseball in the Time of Cholera“ (2012) and “Sun City Picture House“ (2011). The film’s world premiere will be announced soon — stay tuned and follow @RYOTnews for updates.
